Privacy Policy

This policy explains what YAWYE — You Are What You Eat AI collects, why, and what your choices are. It covers our website and mobile applications.

Need help with your account, subscription, a meal analysis, or anything else? Email our support team. Bug reports and questions are welcome.

Information we collect

  • Account: your email address and, if you sign in with Google or Apple, the identifier and email those services share with us.
  • Profile: optional details you provide during onboarding — first name or nickname, diet type, goal, gender, height, weight, timezone and language. These personalize your analysis and daily calorie target.
  • Meal photos and analysis: the food photos you upload and the AI-generated results (foods, nutrition estimates, identity text).
  • Subscription status: purchase and subscription state from the Apple App Store (we never see your payment details — Apple handles billing).
  • Usage data: basic technical logs (IP address, device type, requests) used for security, rate limiting and debugging, plus attribution such as how you heard about us.

How we use it

  • To analyze your meal photos and provide nutrition estimates and identities;
  • To personalize results against your diet, goals and daily calorie target;
  • To authenticate you and keep your account secure;
  • To verify subscription entitlement for analysis;
  • To send login codes and, if you opt in, reminders;
  • To prevent fraud and abuse, and to comply with legal obligations.

AI processing

Meal photos are processed by third-party AI vision providers (such as OpenAI) to generate nutrition estimates and identity content. Photos are sent for processing only — we do not permit providers to use your photos to train their models where such controls are available.

Public share links

If you share a meal, its share page shows the photo, the nutrition estimates, the generated identity and (if set) your first name. It never shows your email, diet, goals or private coaching notes. Deleting a meal disables its share link.

Third-party services

  • Sign-in: Google and Apple (authentication only);
  • Payments: Apple App Store (billing and receipts);
  • AI: vision model providers for photo analysis;
  • Storage & hosting: Cloudflare (site, image storage, delivery);
  • Analytics: privacy-respecting aggregate usage analytics.

Retention and deletion

We keep your data while your account is active. You can delete individual meals at any time, and you can delete your entire account from the mobile app (Profile → Delete account), which removes your meals and anonymizes your personal data.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, to object to processing, and to withdraw consent. Contact our support team using the email option above and we'll help.

Children

The Service is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Cookies

We use an essential session cookie to keep you signed in, and preference cookies (such as dark mode). Analytics, where used, are aggregate and do not build advertising profiles.

Changes

We may update this policy; material changes will be highlighted on this page.
